Two-time Tony Award nominee Brandon Uranowitz joins the cast of the Tony-winning musical The Band’s Visit in the role of Itzik beginning October 9.
A Tony nominee for his performances in An American in Paris and Falsettos, Uranowitz replaces John Cariani, who originated the role Off-Broadway and subsequently in the musical's Broadway premiere. Cariani took his final bow October 7.
Uranowitz's other Broadway credits include Prince of Broadway and Baby It’s You.
He joins a cast currently made up of Tony winner Katrina Lenk, Sasson Gabay (who starred in the original 2007 film), Tony winner Ari'el Stachel, Etai Benson, Adam Kantor, Andrew Polk, Samir Shukry, Bill Army, Joseph Kamal, Rachel Prather, Jonathan Raviv, Sharone Sayegh, Kristen Sieh, Layan Elwazani, Pomme Koch, Ahmad Maksoud, Jodi McFadden, and James Rana.

Musicians include Andrea Grody, Alexandra Eckhardt, Ossama Farouk, Philip Mayer, Sam Sadigursky, Jeff Theiss, Harvey Valdes, and Garo Yellin.
David Yazbek and Itamar Moses’ The Band's Visit officially opened at Broadway’s Ethel Barrymore Theatre November 9, 2017, and was the winner of 10 Tony Awards. The show is also the recipient of a number of Drama League, New York Drama Critics’ Circle, Lucille Lortel, Outer Critics Circle, and Drama Desk Awards, among other accolades.
The musical, based on the screenplay by Eran Kolirin, features a book by Moses and music and lyrics by Yazbek. David Cromer directs with choreography by Patrick McCollum.
As previously announced, the musical will launch its first North American tour in Providence, Rhode Island, in June 2019. The show will also make its way to Washington, D.C. as part of the Kennedy Center's 2018–2019 season. Exact dates, theatres, casting, and additional cities will be announced at a later time.
