Industry News Bill T. Jones Will Be Honored by The Brotherhood/Sister Sol at Spring Gala The Harlem-based youth development organization will honor Jones with the Frida Kahlo Award for Innovative Creativity.

Spring Awakening and Fela! Tony Award winner Bill T. Jones will be honored by the Harlem-based Brotherhood/Sister Sol (Bro/Sis) during its 15th annual Voices Gala on May 21 at the Ziegfeld Ballroom.

The non-profit, which focuses on youth development, education, mentoring, politics, and social justice, will honor Jones with the Frida Kahlo Award for Innovative Creativity.

Also honored during the Voices gala will be civil rights litigator Debo Adegbile, who will receive the Ella Baker & Cesar Chavez Award for Positive Community Development Award, and TV producer Beverly Bond, who will receive the June Jordan Clarion Call Award.

Emmy Award-winning journalist and ABC News correspondent Deborah Roberts will host the 6:30 PM gala.

A MacArthur Genius Grant recipient, Jones is co-founder of the Bill T. Jones/Arnie Zane Dance Company, for which he has created more than works since its founding in 1983. Jones won a 2007 Tony Award for choreographing Spring Awakening. He received Tony nominations for his work as director and choreographer of Fela! in 2010.
