The Drama League will honor Nathan Lane at its 2018 gala, set to take place November 5 at the Plaza in New York City.

The 35th annual event, titled A Musical Celebration of Broadway, will feature a one-night-only tribute to Lane from a host of stage and screen stars; a lineup will be announced at a later date.

Lane can currently be seen on Broadway as Roy Cohn in Angels in America, for which he won a Tony Award June 10. He previously won for performances in A Funny Thing Happened on the Way to the Forum and The Producers. In 2013, the Drama League honored him with the coveted Distinguished Performance Award for his work in The Nance.

“To have the opportunity to celebrate the life, music, and career of Nathan Lane next fall is a tremendous honor,” said Executive Artistic Director Gabriel Stelian-Shanks. “Nathan is one of the great actors of our time, as his Tony-winning turn in this season’s Angels in America has once again demonstrated. This role is a capstone to four decades of powerful, witty, and soulful performances in films, on television, and in theatres around the world.”

Last year’s gala honored Steve Martin, represented on Broadway this past season with his play Meteor Shower.
