Unmasked, the new memoir from award-winning composer Andrew Lloyd Webber, will be published by HarperCollins March 6, 2018.
The publication will include 16 pages of color photos, documenting Lloyd Webber’s early life and career as one of the most successful theatre composers of his generation.
The composer will delve into his personal creative process as he takes readers through the evolution of his career, recounting behind-the-scenes stories from his numerous musicals, including Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat, Jesus Christ Superstar, Evita, Cats, Phantom of the Opera, Aspects of Love, Sunset Boulevard, and more.
Lloyd Webber will also take readers into his childhood home, “illuminating his charming, offbeat family, including his bohemian mother and her pet monkey; his grandmother, who was a founding member of the Christian Communist Party; his zany aunt, who authored the first gay cookbook; and his richly talented younger brother Julian Lloyd Webber,” according to the publisher.
A representative for Lloyd Webber said that the composer would not be commenting on the publication at this time.
Lloyd Webber is currently represented on Broadway with his latest musical School of Rock, a revival of Cats, and his long-running hit The Phantom of the Opera. An acclaimed revival of Sunset Boulevard starring Glenn Close recently ended its limited run.
