Regional News American Idol’s LaToya London Stars in The Bodyguard at White Plains Performing Arts Center Performances begin April 26 under the direction of Frank Portanova.

American Idol Season 3 Finalist LaToya London, who was seen in the national tour of The Color Purple, stars as Rachel Marron in The White Plains Performing Arts Center’s regional premiere of The Bodyguard, based on the 1992 film starring Whitney Houston.

Directed by Frank Portanova with musical direction by Stephen Ferri and choreography by Daniel Gold, performances run April 26-May 12.

The cast also features Sean Hayden as Frank, Cecilia Snow as Nicki, Larry Johnson as Bill, Andrew Foote as Sy, Christopher Spurrier as Tony, Tyler Whiteman as Stalker, and Nazir Garnett and Mark Anthony Newman Jr., who alternate in the role of Fletcher.

The ensemble includes Reggie Bromell, Coleman Cummings, Lyric Danae, Meghan Deeley, Talia Dooz, Cameron Edris, Deánna Giulietti, Carolina Jarufe, Sarah Kleist, Hayley Lampart, Tara Lewellen, Steven Liberto, Madeline Mancebo, Toby Miller, Jennifer Oehlwein, Drew Reese, Kelley Reid, Justin Tepper, Cameron Turner, Leron Wellington, and Hannah Fay Zieser.


The production also has scenic design by Christopher and Justin Swader, lighting design by Adam Honoré, costume design by Antonio Consuegra, sound design by Jon Weston, and stage management by Jessie Jardon.

The musical, based on the screenplay by Lawrence Kasdan, has a book by Alexander Dinelaris and features classic Whitney Houston songs, including “I Have Nothing,” "One Moment in Time,” “Run to You,” “I Wanna Dance With Somebody,” and “I Will Always Love You.”
