The Pasadena Playhouse has set its 2019–2020 season, including a star turn by Alfred Molina and a play directed by BD Wong.
Opening the Los Angeles-area season September 17 will be the a new staging of Alan Menken and Howard Ashman's Little Shop of Horrors.
The Great Leap, directed by BD Wong, will begin performances November 6. Wong originated the role of Wen Chang in the 2018 Off-Broadway premiere. (A production of the basketball-themed play will also play at the Steppenwolf this season.)
To close out the season, Tony Award nominee Alfred Molina will star in Florian Zeller's The Father, translated by Christopher Hampton. The show played on Broadway in 2016, earning Frank Langella his fourth Tony. A film adaptation starring Anthony Hopkins is currently in the works.
