Actually, the latest work from Photograph 51 playwright Anna Ziegler, begins previews at the Williamstown Theatre Festival August 9 for a run through August 20. The play takes on the complex issue of college campus sexual assault.
Lileana Blain-Cruz directs the production, which co-stars Alexandra Socha and Joshua Boone as two Princeton University freshman who share differing accounts of a sexual encounter that took place after a night of partying.
The play is a co-world premiere between Williamstown and the Geffen Playhouse in Los Angeles, where Actually opened earlier this year with a different cast and creative team.
The Williamstown run of Actually is produced in association with Manhattan Theatre Club, which will transfer the production Off-Broadway this fall.

Socha is a Lortel Award nominee for her work in the original Off-Broadway cast of Fun Home; she previously took over the role of Wendla in the original Broadway production of Spring Awakening. Boone made his Broadway debut in Holler If Ya Hear Me in 2014 and was seen in the Humana Festival world premiere of brownsville song (b-side for tray).
Ziegler’s Photograph 51, about physicist Rosalind Franklin who paved the way to cracking the structure of the DNA double helix, received its 2015 West End premiere starring Nicole Kidman. Her plays also include Boy, BFF, A Delicate Ship, Another Way Home, Dov and Ali, The Minotaur, and The Last Match. Actually was first presented as part of the 2016 Fridays @ 3 Reading Series at Williamstown.
Actually features set design by Adam Rigg, costume design by Paloma Young, lighting design by Ben Stanton, and sound design by Jane Shaw.
