News Ahrens and Flaherty to Be Honored at International Thespian Festival We Tell the Story: A Celebration of the Works of Ahrens & Flaherty will pay tribute to the Tony Award-winning songwriting team.

Tony Award-winning collaborators Lynn Ahrens and Stephen Flaherty, who return to Broadway this season with their new musical Anastasia, will be honored by students at the 2017 International Thespian Festival in Lincoln, Nebraska, this June.

We Tell the Story: A Celebration of the Works of Ahrens & Flaherty will kick off the festival that runs June 19-24. The opening performance will be presented by a select group of 28 students, representing 13 states and Canada, who were chosen as the cast and crew.

The performance will offer highlights from Ahrens and Flaherty shows including Once on This Island, Ragtime, Anastasia, Seussical, and more.

The students will work alongside Broadway talent who will help them shape, stage, rehearse, and produce the show in only 48 hours.

EdTA executive director Julie Theobald said in a statement, “The Educational Theatre Association is committed to continually raising the bar for Thespians and connecting them with talented professionals. In 2017 those professionals include producer Eric Cornell (Anastasia), artistic director J. Jason Daunter (Wicked), and musical arranger/supervisor Jason Yarcho (Wicked), among others.”
