Lydia R. Diamond’s Toni Stone is a baseball story unlike any other. The play, now in previews in Roundabout's Laura Pels Theatre, is the story of Toni Stone, the first woman baseball player to go pro in the Negro Leagues, and the first woman ever to play professionally in a men's baseball league.

Toni Stone stars April Matthis in the title role; she is joined by an all-male ensemble made up of Eric Berryman, Harvy Blanks, Phillip James Brannon, Daniel J. Bryant, Jonathan Burke, Toney Goins, Kenn E. Head, and Ezra Knight.
Diamond's new play is based on the book Curveball, The Remarkable Story of Toni Stone by Martha Ackmann. The production will officially open Off-Broadway June 20.
