The world premiere of Jesse Eisenberg’s new play Happy Talk is set to open Off-Broadway May 16 at the Pershing Square Signature Center. The New Group production, starring Oscar winner Susan Sarandon and Tony nominee Marin Ireland, is scheduled to run through June 16.
In Happy Talk, Lorraine (Sarandon) is a saint of the suburbs. On top of trying to save her dying mother, miserable husband, and estranged daughter, she’s starring as Bloody Mary in the Jewish Community Center production of South Pacific. When her mother’s home aide, Serbian immigrant Ljuba (Ireland), asks for help finding a husband, Lorraine takes on her most challenging role to date: matchmaker.
Scott Elliott directs, with a cast that also includes Crazy Rich Asians' Nico Santos, Tedra Millan (Present Laughter), and Daniel Oreskes (Oslo).
