School of Rock – The Musical officially opened on Broadway December 6 2016 at the Winter Garden Theatre, where it continues to play. Alex Brightman, who originated the role of lovable music teacher Dewey, took a hiatus from the show but is back in the starring role.

5 Things You May Not Know About School of Rock:

  • All of the kids who play an instrument in the show play their own instruments.
  • School of Rock was nominated for four 2016 Tony Awards.
  • Composer Andrew Lloyd Webber currently has four shows on Broadway, including School of Rock. This number was only attained once before in 1953 by Rodgers & Hammerstein.
