About Producer Hub

Developed specifically for independent producers and artists operating in nimble, bespoke business models, Producer Hub offers programs, resources, and community that allow participants to ease the burden of sustainability in business practice. We help them create work, realize their full potential, and make lasting contributions to the performing arts field. Producer Hub supports performance entrepreneurs at every stage of their practice, needs, and financial capacity.

Producer Hub was created by Octopus Theatricals, a team of independent producers, in response to gaps we identified in the field. From 2018 – early 2020, led by Mara Isaacs and Ronee Penoi, conducted a series of exploratory discussions, focus groups, surveys and convenings with independent artists, producers, culture bearers, presenters, funders and other stakeholders in the performing arts ecosystem to understand the needs of those working in the independent sector. As so many culture-makers were working in isolation, reinventing the proverbial wheel, and often falling into the gaps between existing programs, our research revealed that independent artists and producers shared a critical need for information, resources, and community.

It isn’t just what we do, but how we do it. Producer Hub is centered in conversation, connection, accessibility, and transparency. Our work is built on meaningful relationships with our constituents (producers, artists, and funders alike) and features in-depth connection, mentorship, and personal growth through the Hub, at minimal cost, differentiating us from other providers of business and fiscal sponsorship services.
