The national tour of the Tony Award-winning musical Memphis launched Oct. 14 at the Orpheum Theatre in its namesake city, bringing the Broadway musical about a white DJ and his relationship with a black singer full circle. While the cast was in town preparing to introduce Memphis, TN audiences to the 1950's-set show, they took time out of their schedule to visit Graceland, the home of the King of rock 'n' roll, Elvis Presley.
Julie Johnson, who plays Mama on the tour, shares with viewers her experience of visiting Graceland and speaks about the message behind Memphis. Johnson is joined by additional members of the Memphis cast, who explore Graceland and the rich history of the King, his music and his home. The national tour of Memphis officially opens Oct. 16.
