Why travel across the Atlantic to play in somebody else's theatre when you can take your own venue with you? That's exactly what the Royal Shakespeare Company did when it teamed up with the Lincoln Center Festival and Ohio State University for a summer residency in New York City's Upper East Side. At the cavernous Park Avenue Armory, the producing partners recreated an exact copy of RSC's Stratford-upon-Avon home stage. Shortly before the July 6 launch of the summer repertory season, Playbill got a tour of the free-standing theatre constructed within the Armory's Wade Thompson Drill Hall. The five-play rep schedule (through Aug. 14) includes
As You Like It,
Julius Caesar,
King Lear,
Romeo and Juliet and
The Winter's Tale. Visit
