A Tony winner for Sweeney Todd, director John Doyle is acclaimed for using actor-musicians to tell stories. He again employs the idea in Cincinnati Playhouse in the Park's production of Merrily We Roll Along, Stephen Sondheim and George Furth's musical about a group of friends who navigate the ups and downs of love and show biz. Malcolm Gets (The Story of My Life) plays Frank (on piano), Daniel Jenkins (Billy Elliot, Big River) plays Charley (on trumpet) and Becky Ann Baker (Good People, "Smash") plays Mary (on percussion).
