In the '70s, David Johansen made a name for himself in New York City's underground rock music scene as lead singer of the influential New York Dolls. In the '80s, he morphed into Buster Poindexter, a pompadour-coiffed crooner with a taste for cabaret and lounge tunes and hit it big with a cover of "Hot, Hot, Hot," a Caribbean party anthem. Playbill was on hand as Poindexter and band prepped for their current run at Café Carlyle with a rendition of "The Seven Deadly Virtues" from Camelot. Performances are Tuesday through Saturday at 8:45 p.m. through Oct. 10. See show details.
