On the anniversary of the Sept. 11, 2001, terrorist attacks on the United States, Playbill asked members of the Broadway community to reflect on the uncertain time, the shared hope and the role that theatre played following the destruction of the twin towers of New York City's World Trade Center. Former Broadway League president Jed Bernstein, along with performers Karen Mason, Nancy Opel and Brad Oscar, who were working on Broadway at the time, talk about where they were when the world changed — and what it was like to be part of a creative community that went dark in a time of national tragedy.
