SMT has two major theatrical seasons: Summer, the larger of two, features five major musical productions complete with full pit orchestra as well as a children's production. All productions are held at the News-Journal Center. Larger productions are housed in the Center's Josephine Field Davidson Theater (850 seats), while more intimate productions take place in the Elaine & Thurman Gillespy, Jr. Theater (250 seats). The winter season features three intimate productions.
