Ellen Hanley, the musical theatre actress who played the wife of New York City mayor Fiorello H. LaGuardia in the show Fiorello!, died of a stroke Feb. 13, 2007, in Norwalk, CT. She was 80. Ms. Hanley played opposite Tom Bosley's LaGuardia in the Sheldon Harnick-Jerry Bock Pulitzer Prize-winning musical, which ran for 795 performances beginning in 1959. She sang the songs "Til Tomorrow" and "When Did I Fall in Love" in the show.

Ms. Hanley, who was born May 15, 1926, in Lorain, OH, made her Broadway debut in Annie Get Your Gun in 1946, playing Mary. She won a Theatre World Award the next year for her performance in Barefoot Boy With Cheek, a George Abbott production. In 1952 she starred in the short-lived Bette Davis revue Two's Company, which had music by Vernon Duke and words by Ogden Nash, and included the minor classic "Roundabout," which Ms. Hanley introduced.

Her other Broadway shows included First Impressions in 1959, The Fig Leaves Are Falling in 1969, and 1776, in which she replaced Virginia Vestoff as Abigail Adams. She was also a regular in Julius Monk's revues in the 1950s, according to AP.

Her marriage to Ronnie Graham lasted from 1951 to 1963. She is survived by a daughter and a son.
