Seeking:
Kim:
lead, 18-20s, soprano/mezzo-soprano. A young, innocent Vietnamese woman who falls in love with Chris. Her journey moves from innocence to resilience and tragedy.
Vocal Range: Soprano/Mezzo (E3 to D5). Requires emotional depth, strength, and vulnerability.
Audition Song:

• “The Movie in My Mind” –
Chris:
lead, 20s to 30s, tenor. An American GI stationed in Vietnam. Passionate, torn, and deeply conflicted about his love for Kim and his duty to his country and new life.
Vocal Range: Tenor (B2 to B4). Requires a strong, emotionally charged voice.
Audition Song:

Ellen: SEEKING UNDERSTUDY
20s to 30s, mezzo-soprano. Chris’s American wife, who struggles with his unresolved feelings for Kim. She is compassionate yet strong-willed.
Vocal Range: Mezzo-Soprano (F3 to D5). Requires a tender yet firm tone.

Thuy:
, 20s to 30s, baritone/tenor. Kim’s cousin and betrothed in an arranged marriage. He is fiercely loyal to his family and country but becomes increasingly obsessive and menacing.
Vocal Range: Baritone/Tenor (B2 to G4). Requires a commanding and intense presence.

Gigi Van Tranh:
, 20s to 30s, mezzo-soprano. A hardened, world-weary Vietnamese bar girl. She dreams of escaping her life and finding a better future.
Vocal Range: Mezzo-Soprano (G3 to D5). Requires a sultry, expressive tone with emotional nuance.
