DESCRIPTION

The White Plains Performing Arts Center a non profit regional theatre is looking for energetic, passionate individuals to work with our Summer Theatre Academy students in our summer camp.

WPPAC is looking to hire theatre apprentices for our summer shows who have experience in stage management/tech or acting/dance/music.

Apprentices can apply for just individual shows or the full season as well.

DATES:

Beetlejuice JR (3-week camp): (Grades 6-12)

June 30-July 19 Performances Fri. July 18th & Sat. July 19th
*There will be no camp on July 4 due to Independence Day.

Spongebob JR. (3-week camp): (Grades 4-10)

July 21 - August 9th Performances Fri. August 8th & Sat. August 9th


Madagascar JR (2-week camp): (Grades 2-10)

August 11th -23rd Performances Fri. Aug. 22 and Saturday Aug 23


Winnie the Pooh Kids (1-week camp): (Grades 1-8)

August 25th-29th Performances Fri. Aug. 29th

Apprentices will engage in numerous aspects of STA camp, and duties may include: leading games and exercises for campers, assisting with stage management, blocking, choreography, and music. Apprentices will lead workshops and classes for campers, and encourage campers to apply new skills in their work onstage. We are particularly interested in applicants with backgrounds in any of the following areas: stage management/tech, acting/dance/music. Please note Stage Mangement applicants must be able to call shows.

HOURS:

  • 9:00am - 4:30pm daily, Monday-Friday
    *Apprentices will split early/late care coverage week-to-week. Early care begins at 8:30am and additional money is given for before/after care to apprentices.

REQUIREMENTS:

  • At least one year of college/training in theatre/music/dance training or equivalent experience required. Or a recent HS grad.

  • Applicants must be at least 18 years old.

  • Previous experience working with school aged students is preferred though not mandatory.

  • Applicants must have access to local housing - no housing and no travel provided

  • You can apply for any number of sessions but you must be available for the entire session you are applying for. We also will take applicants for the entire summer as well if interested.

Apprentice Stipend + Eligible for college credit with certain universities $350/week.
