Starcatchers is seeking an experienced and dynamic Technical Director (TD) for a temporary position overseeing the technical aspects of our summer production of Beetlejuice JR while also leading our Theatre Tech Camp for students.
Key Responsibilities
Production Responsibilities:
Oversee technical aspects of the summer production, including set construction & lighting.
Collaborate with the director.
Supervise and lead a team of technicians, volunteers, and interns in set building and tech operations.
Ensure safety procedures and best practices are followed in all technical workspaces.
Manage and maintain theatre equipment, tools, and materials.
Coordinate load-in, strike, and any necessary technical rehearsals.
Theatre Tech Camp Responsibilities:
Provide hands-on instruction in technical theatre practices, emphasizing safety and professional standards.
Facilitate collaborative projects where students contribute to the summer production’s technical elements.
Serve as a mentor and role model for aspiring theatre technicians.
Qualifications:
Proven experience as a Technical Director or in a similar role in theatre production.
Strong knowledge of scenic construction and lighting.
Experience working with youth and/or teaching technical theatre preferred.
Excellent leadership, organizational, and communication skills.
Ability to lift and move heavy equipment and work at heights when necessary.
Experience with industry-standard software (AutoCAD, Vectorworks, QLab, etc.) is a plus.
Compensation:
June 23rd-July 14th, $15-$20 per hour
Lunch is included from the Solebury School dining hall.
