ABOUT THE POSITION
SEATTLE REP is seeking a resourceful and highly talented Head Properties to join the stage crew. The Head Properties is a vital member of the stage crew in the Bagley Wright Theater, and provides essential support for realizing our artistic visions in every production. In collaboration with other members of the stage crew and production staff, the Head Properties is responsible for maintenance, installation, strike, and performances of all productions in the Bagley Wright Theater, dealing primarily with properties work. The Head Properties may also provide additional support to the other positions on the stage crew in the Bagley Wright, Leo K., and PONCHO Theaters.
Typical Duties Include:
Participate in Show Changeovers
- Manage the load-in and strike of stage properties as it applies to all productions on the Bagley Wright Stage
- Lead props crew calls on the Bagley Wright Stage
-Supervise the load-in and strike of furniture, hand, and set props and assist in determination of run practices and systems
- Support the other stage departments in their install and strike processes
Lead the maintenance of the stage properties in the Bagley Wright Theater
- Maintain and repair stage properties on a regular basis and as necessary
- Maintain a safe and clean work environment in all theatrical spaces
Run shows as a member of the stage crew
- Run props for staged rehearsals and performances
- Act in other capacities on stage crew as time allows and shows require
Serve as an essential contributor to Seattle Rep’s culture and success
- Add constructively to the collaborative and collegial health of the organization
- Add actively and constructively to the equity, diversity, and inclusion work of the organization, including attending all-staff training sessions
- Engage with and strive to embody Seattle Rep’s mission, vision, and values in all aspects of work.
Minimum Qualifications
- 3 years stage crew member on a professional level
- Knowledge of theatrical props construction techniques
- Excellent problem-solving and interpersonal communication skills
- A demonstrated ability to work effectively as a leader, independently, and as a member of a team
- Ability to thrive in an environment that requires working under tight deadlines
- Commitment to or knowledge of racial equity and social justice
Desired Qualifications
- Collegiate or other specialized training in theatrical and entertainment staging systems and techniques
- Knowledge of safe food handling techniques and weapon handling procedures
- Working knowledge of lighting, video, carpentry, sound, rigging, and automation systems
