Production Management: Seasonal Associates and Assistants

Little Island is seeking seasonal support staff with a focus in production management to work alongside the Production Manager and the Artistic Programming Department. In these roles, you will be responsible for supporting the planning, execution, and on-site management of Little Island’s artistic season.

The ideal candidates are collaborative team members with a passion for supporting artistic needs, excellent problem solving and project management skills and experience in theatrical or live event production management. We strongly encourage folks who have experience supporting a wide variety of artistic disciplines to apply. These positions report directly to the Production Manager.

  • Schedule Expectations: The schedule will include frequent evening, overnight, holiday and weekend shifts. Regular six-day work weeks will be required during peak periods.

Production Management Department Roles and Weekly Rates

  • Seasonal Associate Production Manager: $1,500/week

  • Serve as the Production Department’s primary on-site representative during Amph performances, communicating with other members of the Artistic Programming department, designers, and stage managers on upholding the safety of the company and crew, departmental needs that arise, including weather-related issues.

  • Make real-time adjustments to schedule and crew breaks, ensuring compliance with production needs and IATSE union agreements.

  • Manage production spending and credit card oversight.

  • Support Production Manager with rentals and bid processes, taking artist requests and working with vendors to find solutions that are on budget and production compliant.

  • Seasonal Assistant Production Manager: $1,350/week

  • Monitor and maintain supply and resource inventories for all departments, in conversation with the Production Manager.

  • Serve as the Production Department’s on-site representative during events occurring in the Glade and/or Playground venues, ensuring performances are executed safely and efficiently while coordinating with the Producing team and crew.

What You’ll Do

  • Serve as the Production Department’s on-site representative during site visits, load-ins and work calls, including nights and weekends. This includes:

  • Supervise stagehand activity and ensure compliance with Little Island’s work rules and safety protocols.

  • Coordinate production activity with Little Island’s Park Operations team.

  • Communicate the impact of real-time weather and technical developments to artists and other members of the Artistic Programming team.

  • Lead production purchasing and sourcing efforts by:

  • Researching and comparing suppliers, goods and services.

  • Tracking and reconciling expenses, including processing invoices and credit card charges.

  • Traveling offsite for same-day purchase needs when required.

  • Collaborate with stagehands to ensure backstage areas are organized and ready for performance.

  • Supervise rehearsal room setup and strike activity, including transportation of production materials and equipment between Little Island and off-site rehearsal spaces.

  • Update the season calendar and production schedule using scheduling and project management software in collaboration with the Artistic Programming Department.

  • Facilitate clear communication with other Little Island departments and external collaborators, ensuring timely completion of vendor communications, stagehand onboarding, and routine administrative tasks.

  • Implement and monitor safety protocols in collaboration with the Production Manager.

  • Implement and execute department processes and procedures related to transportation, reimbursement and budget tracking.

  • Participate in the daily operations of all performance spaces during programming, providing direction and hands-on support during rehearsals, load-ins, and load-outs, equipment operation, emergencies and maintenance activities as needed.

  • Perform other tasks related to the park and its operations, as assigned by the Production Manager.

What You Bring

  • 3+ years of administrative experience in production or a related field (Seasonal Associate Production Manager).

  • 2+ years of administrative experience in production or a related field (Seasonal Assistant Production Manager).

  • Experience working alongside a crew in theatrical or outdoor settings.

  • Experience working with the framework of collective bargaining agreements or union work rules.

  • Exceptional organizational skills with a keen attention to detail and ability to prioritize tasks.

  • Proficiency with scheduling, project management and communication software.

  • A passion for collaborating on new and original works in a unique outdoor venue.

  • A commitment to fostering camaraderie and excellence by proactively collaborating and problem-solving across departments.

  • Adaptability and flexibility in responding to changing circumstances in a dynamic, fast-paced work environment.

  • Availability to work nights and weekends as required during the programming season.

  • Comfort working in a variety of weather conditions, including light rain, summer heat and in intermittent direct sunlight.

  • Ability to remain stationary for extended periods, navigate stairs and regularly lift 25 pounds.
