BREAKDOWN

MYTHIC

SYNOPSIS: A new pop-rock, coming of age, musical comedy, MYTHIC, makes its U.S. premiere in Cincinnati. The ancient Greek myth of Persephone is turned on its ear, with the gods as chart-topping pop stars, power hungry politicians and attention-seeking influencers. Starstruck by Olympian celebrity, Persephone rebels against her mother Demeter and sneaks into a party at the Acropolis. When she meets brooding bad boy Hades, her life takes an unexpected turn into the Underworld.

SEEKING:

BARBARA (Female Presenting, 20s – 40s, Open Ethnicity) Member of the Greek Chorus. A nymph and confidante to Demeter.

ALECTO (Any Gender, 20s-40s, Open Ethnicity) Member of the Greek Chorus. Hades’ number two. Authoritative and cynical. Their job is to keep Hades on track and the Underworld running smoothly.

JANELLE (Female Presenting, 20s – 40s, Open Ethnicity) Member of the Greek Chorus. An underworld Henchman. Really loves torture.

HELIOS (Male Presenting, 20s – 40s, Open Ethnicity) Member of the Greek Chorus. Sun God. A total frat-boy “bro.”

CYCLOPS (Any Gender, 20s – 40s, Open Ethnicity) Member of the Greek Chorus. A cyclops.

CHARON (Male Presenting, 20s – 40s, Open Ethnicity) Member of the Greek Chorus. Hell’s ferryman. Starts off curmudgeonly, ends up seeing things in an enthusiastic new light.

ASCALAPHUS (Male Presenting, 20s – 40s, Open Ethnicity) Member of the Greek Chorus. Gardener of the Underworld. Neurotic and strange until shown a new way of living.

MINOS (Male Presenting, 20s – 40s, Open Ethnicity) Member of the Greek Chorus. Judge of the Dead. A severe evil gatekeeper on the surface - but actually a sweet teddy bear underneath.

NIKE (Any Gender, 20s – 40s, Open Ethnicity) Member of the Greek Chorus. A customer service representative at the gates of Mount Olympus. Totally over it.

APHRODETTES (Female Presenting, 20s – 40s, Open Ethnicity) Members of the Greek Chorus. Aphrodite’s entourage/back-up girls. Think Destiny’s Child.
