Breakdown

LITTLE SHOP OF HORRORS

SEEKING:

Seymour Krelborn: Tenor. A put-upon, insecure floral assistant on Skid Row. Sweet, awkward, and yearning for love and success. Must balance comic timing with genuine emotional stakes.

Audrey: Mezzo/Soprano with a big belt. A shop girl with low self-worth and a history of abusive relationships. Vulnerable, kind, and hopeful beneath the surface.

Mr Mushnik: Baritone. The struggling owner of the flower shop. Opportunistic and self-serving, with strong comedic instincts.

Orin Scrivello, D.D.S. (and others): Baritone/Tenor. A sadistic, charismatic dentist. Over-the-top, physically comedic, and dangerous. Doubles multiple cameo roles (Bernstein, Mrs. Luce, etc.).

Audrey II: Bass/Baritone. A commanding, larger-than-life presence—whether voiced offstage or embodied onstage—who brings Audrey II to life as a menacing, manipulative force. This character must exude charisma and danger, effortlessly luring Seymour (and the audience) into its web. A dynamic stage presence and a powerful R&B/soul vocal quality with excellent rhythm, phrasing, and musicality. A villain that is both entertaining and unsettling.

URCHINS - CRYSTAL, RONNETTE AND CHIFFON: (Black, Late Teens–Early 20s, tight harmonies essential) The street urchins, acting as the occasional Greek Chorus. Young, energetic and street smart with a sharp sense of humor. These girls are the only ones who have a grip on reality. Strong singers and movers.

PUPPETEER: Skilled puppeteers to operate Audrey II. This track requires strength, stamina, precision, and full-body physical storytelling to bring the plant to life in sync with the voice actor. Performers must be highly collaborative and comfortable working in tight spaces and/or within the puppet structure. Prior puppetry experience is strongly preferred. Experience with large-scale or multi-operator puppets is a plus. Please note: Puppeteers do not need to attend the open call. Interested performers should submit a resume (and reels, if available) for consideration at [email protected], with the subject: PUPPETEER SUBMISSION.
