BREAKDOWN
HOUR OF DARKNESS
SYNOPSIS: In this modern-day adaptation of the classic Greek tragedy, Medea has fled the confines and abuses of areligious cult. With the help of a childhood friend, Medea and her children escape to the temporary safety of a nearby motel. Over the course of this night, Medea is forced to confront the ghosts of her past, the destruction of her marriage, and the inevitability of her own fate.
SEEKING:
[NURSE] 20s/30s, Any gender. Kind and firm, sharp and practical. A functional heavy drinker. Closefriend of Medea from high school, having not seen her in about a decade. Helped rescue her and acts as her fearsome protector. Works as a medical nurse.
[MOTEL OWNER'S WIFE / CREON'S WIFE] Motel Owner's Wife: 40 - 60. Living in an unhappy,abusive marriage, she has decided to accept this as her fate and is focused on maintaining stability and keeping the peace. Creon's Wife: 40 - 60. The "First Lady" of God's Bounty, the cult from which Medea has fled. She is the primary wife of Creon, the leader of this organization's section. She is firm, decisive, fiercely loyal to her religion, and perhaps even a true believer. She is not necessarily unkind or angry, she may even present as a maternal figure.
