BREAKDOWN

GUN & POWDER

SEEKING:

TALLULAH – ROLE ON OFFER. Mid 40s-early 50s; formerly enslaved; that everlasting, no-nonsense Black Mama that we love and fear. Strong powerhouse singer. Very comfortable with gospel runs. Full range, F3-E5. Soprano solos/Alto harmonies.

MARTHA – ROLE ON OFFER. Mid 20s-late 30s; passes for White; embodiment of the self-sacrificing, altruistic Black woman American society historically imposes. But she's got a GUN and she will POP YOU. Strong, versatile singer. Comfortable with pop and gospel stylings. Full range F#3-E5. High belt.

MARY – ROLE ON OFFER. Mid 20s-late 30s; passes for White; embodiment of the #SoftLife aspiration. Brandishes her feminine power like a weapon. Makes her moves in silence. Stiletto energy. Strong, versatile singer. Comfortable with legit, pop, gospel and country stylings. Full range F3-G5. High belt.

JESSE – 30s-40s; not your typical Southern White Man; born into wealth, but had to claw and punch for his share; an outlaw on the skin, but a lover at heart. Able singer. Comfortable with pop/country stylings. Baritone. A2-F#4.

ELIJAH – ROLE ON OFFER. 30s-40s; cunning, but cautious; a Black man of dignity, despite his circumstances; passionate for justice, even more zealous for true romance. Strong singer. Very comfortable with R&B stylings. Baritenor. B2-A4.

FLO – ROLE ON OFFER. 30s-late 40s; your favorite Auntie at the cookout; knows all the scoop, hysterically self-preserving. Strong powerhouse singer. Comfortable with blues and gospel stylings. Full range, but primarily alto voice. Strong mover and storyteller.

SISSY– ROLE ON OFFER. 30s-late 40s; your other favorite Auntie at the cookout; plays things close to the vest; keeps money in her bra. Strong powerhouse singer. Comfortable with blues and gospel stylings. Full range, but primarily soprano voice. Strong mover and storyteller.
