Seeking:
Folk/ rock musical theatre performers for a concert production of the new musical buried by Hallie Malina and Olivia Berkson.
Show Description/History:
Buried is a concept musical that explores what relates us through time and what kind of impact we leave on the world. We bring light to the emotions we feel when things are out of our control. Something we can all relate to right now. What do we do when tragic things happen? How do we want to be remembered if it was up to us? What can we do when it isn't?
Buried was most recently performed at The Circle in the Square Theatre School as part of the Emerging Writer’s Residency.
Note on Show Structure:
As a concept musical, buried consists of a series of monologues and songs which will both be performed in this concert version. As there are no characters, each part will be separated by vocal parts (ex: S1, A1, T1 etc.). Performers will be featured in at least one song and one monologue, in addition to ensemble singing.
Tracks we’re seeking:
S3 - Folk/ Rock lyrical soprano, can hold harmony
A2- Rock Mezzo/ Alto, Strong belt
A3- Alto, Folk, can hold harmony
T2- Tenor, Folk, strong storyteller, guitar playing is a plus
T3- Tenor, Folk, can hold harmony
(Actors/Musicians who play guitar, string instruments and piano are strongly encouraged to audition!)
Audition Details:
32 bar cut of a folk/ rock song and a cut of a contemporary monologue.
Auditions will close on Thursday April 10th at 11:30pm
Performance Date: June 6, 2025
Rehearsals: Rehearsals will be in person in NYC between May 4 and June 6 about 1-3 times per week depending on what’s being covered. Hours will be solidified based on actors’ availability. Since this piece is a combination of songs and monologues, the majority of in-person rehearsals will be music rehearsals while the monologue work may be done via zoom.
