Jazz Saxophonist Andrew Shapiro is thrilled to present “Expanding the Score”, a genre-bending project that proposes a new perspective on what we consider a “jazz standard through” the lens of modern and contemporary musical theatre. Showcasing the excellence of both vocalist and instrumentalist alike, the project aims to explore the musical works from composers such as Stephen Schwartz, Tom Kitt, Stephen Sondheim, and Duncan Sheik, expanding the traditional jazz repertoire by drawing from theatrical works that are foreign in today’s jazz idiom. Audition materials will include a video submission of you singing your favorite ballad and any media from past performances + gigs. More information provided in the link below.
