DESCRIPTION
NexGen Youth Theatre, an educational youth theatre company based in Manhattan, is seeking a choreographer for select numbers in their upcoming production of "Pippin," performing
June 6 - 8 at La Mama Downstairs Theatre (66 E 4th Street, New York, NY).
Rehearsals are
Fridays from 5pm-9pm,
Sundays from 1pm-6pm, and some
Saturdays from 1pm-6pm in Midtown Manhattan (Ripley-Grier Studios, Open Jar Studios, or other Midtown West rehearsal studio). There will be additional rehearsals and tech in the theater June 2nd-5th (La Mama).
PLEASE NOTE: This production is currently in rehearsals, and we are looking to start on April 25th. You will not be needed for all rehearsals, and availability for tech week/the show run is optional.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE:
- Choreographing select numbers in "Pippin" for students ages 15 - 22 (within the director's concept)
- Attending and collaborating in brief planning meetings with the team through the process
FULL NUMBERS RESPONSIBLE FOR:
- "Magic to Do" (Full Song, but beginning has already been shaped to set up concept)
- "Glory" (Full song)
- "The Right Track" (Full Song)
PARTIAL NUMBERS:
- "War is a Science" (Ensemble Members Only)
- "Simple Joys" (beginning has been shaped, done in collaboration with director, focus on dance break to the end)
- "With You" (Vocal section has been done, instrumental section only - in collaboration with intimacy director and director)
- "Spread a Little Sunshine" (beginning has been shaped, focus on dance break to the end)
- "Extraordinary" (Dance Break to the end only)
- "Finale" (mostly done by director, but will need some additional shaping/choreo in moments)
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Dance background with choreographic experience
- Ability to choreograph for young performers with varying levels of dance ability
- Experience working with young performers in a leadership role
- Collaborative nature and positive attitude
- Patience with the learning process
