Now Casting - LEAD ROLE. Scandanavian actor, female/nonbinary, Late 20's-30's. The nurturing older sister. Must be an NYC local. Preference for actor to have a natural Scandanavian accent, but willing to work with someone able to do accent convincingly. Actor must be comfortable with movement. This is a non-union project.In honor of the women who came before us. Three sisters meet to create a ritual in honor of the female ancestor. In their search for one very special ancestor the sisters summon stories of unity, liberation and disempowerment. Throughout their quest a core disagreement between the sisters becomes more and more visible and the overarching question becomes whether they actually want to carry on the lineage.
Matronym is a sensory play that summons and celebrates female voices of the past - Who are the women whose shoulders we stand on? Who are we because of their sacrifices? And do we want to carry the lineage forward? Matronym is written and directed by Amanda Langberg Hermansen and premiered in Copenhagen at the award-winning theater FÅR302 in 2023 and Vildskud Theatre Festival in 2024.
Casting for a Staged Reading of an exciting new translation of the innovative, feminist work. There is a possibility this role will extend to a future production. Stipend of $50 for staged reading. There will be four flexible rehearsals based off of the schedules of the actors. Location for reading TBD in Manhattan or Brooklyn.
