ISABELLE: CAST: Jean Smart

ISABELLE COVER - Female/female identifying, white, 60s-70s. Born and raised in Mansfield, Louisiana, Isabelle, or Izzy, has lived her life largely abiding by the traditions & beliefs of the rural South. A “good girl” who followed all the rules in her youth, IZZY has grown into a good-natured, funny and tenacious woman who nevertheless still tries not to make waves, especially with the husband with whom she lives in a trailer park. As a refuge from the pains and difficult realities of her daily life, IZZY takes up again her first love, writing, reigniting her fiery imagination, first as a means of figurative escape and eventually so much more.


PREPARATION

Actors should prepare contemporary monologues. No longer than 2 minutes in length. Please bring your headshot and resume, stapled together.
