Seven Angels Theatre, an award winning regional theatre in Waterbury, CT now in its 35th season, is seeking and accepting resumes for ARTISTIC PRODUCING DIRECTOR.

ARTISTIC LEADERSHIP

The Artistic Producing Director will serve as the visionary leader of Seven Angels Theatre maintaining the mission and values of Seven Angels, which include artistic and educational impact, excellence, stewardship, and community, and guiding the theatre into its next chapter as a professional arts organization.

The Artistic Producing Director of Seven Angels Theatre reports directly to the Board of Directors working alongside the Finance Director. The Artistic Producing Director and the Finance Director work with the Board of Directors to ensure the programmatic and operational integrity, sustainability and excellence of the Theatre.

The Artistic Producing Director conceptualizes, articulates, and implements artistic policy and procedures for Seven Angels crafting a season that speaks to the mission of Seven Angels and the community.

· Direct a minimum of two full productions annually.

· Responsible for the selection and planning of the season of musicals, plays, concerts and events engaging all artistic staff, including directors, designers, and actors

· Prepare and negotiate contracts with publishing companies for royalties and script licensing

· Hire and supervise artists to work within the production season, including directors, designers, musicians, technical directors and other pertinent personnel needed for the productions

· Oversee all production areas and staff in production departments including but not limited to Production Manager, Stage Management, Guest Directors, Guest Designers, Musical Directors.

· Ensure smooth execution of all productions, attending production meetings, first rehearsals, run-throughs and performances.

· Write casting notices along with Directors, facilitate postings and oversee casting for productions

· Prepare, oversee and attend Mainstage auditions and other community auditions as necessary, identifying talent and casting for the season.

· Greet audiences with curtain speeches at performances, previews, opening nights, closings, and important Seven Angels theatre events

· Lead or participate in pre/post-show talk backs if scheduled

SEVEN ANGELS HIGH SCHOOL THEATRE HALO AWARDS

· Hire all personnel needed for HALOS

· Oversee Production needs for HALOS and Production nights

· Attend HALOS production nights

· Work with HALOS Director & Coordinators facilitating all aspects of the HALOS program

EDUCATION

· Oversee the educational programming of the Theatre in coordination/collaboration with the education department/coordinator

· Put together, hire and oversee the Summer Theatre Youth Workshops along with the Director of Education.

· Coordinate with Director of Education the growth of the education department through developing new programming for schools, classes and community.

ARTISTIC MANAGING LEADERSHIP & RESPONSIBILITIES

· Attend all meetings of the Board, providing reports, support and guidance as needed to ensure decision-making is well-informed.

· Develop production/artistic budgets for shows to submit to Finance Director and the Board to review and discuss

· Collaborate with the Finance Director to insure the financial stability of the theatre

· Along with the Finance Director, create the AEA annual season proposal

· Monitor production show expenses in real time

· Work with Finance Director and the Board in pricing tickets for shows and events

· Collaborate with Development Office on the research, completion, and evaluation of potential grants/funding opportunities.

· Collaborate with Marketing Director to approve all marketing and public relations in branding, season ticket campaigns, individual shows and descriptions

· Collaborate with marketing director to develop and implement marketing ideas for season productions.

· Establish open and consistent communication lines with staff, board and artists

· Maintain a day-to-day availability and presence to lead and support

· Attend staff meetings, leading and providing production agenda items to discuss

· Collaborate with the staff and Board in creating budgets and work plans for the theatre to accomplish its artistic and financial objectives.

· In collaboration with the Finance Director lead and set measurable goals for the theatre’s growth, including ticket sales, subscriptions, and community outreach.

OUTREACH RESPONSIBILITIES & EXTERNAL RELATIONS

The Artistic Director serves as the public face of the theatre, and plays an active role in community relations and the fund-raising activities of the organization. Acting as the primary spokesperson, the Artistic Director is the organizational representative in establishing and maintaining relationships with the community and with artists, community partners, and supporters.

· Create and maintain relationships with leaders, organizations and the community at large

· Act as a primary spokesperson and organizational representative in establishing new and maintaining ongoing relationships with community partners, funders, and key individual donors.

· Advocate for arts funding through representation and participation at the national, state, regional, and local levels at meetings and socials.

· Meet with major donor prospects as identified by the Development Director if necessary

· Build and maintain strong collaborative relationships with the City, State of CT and the State Office of the Arts, the Chamber, Arts Council etc.

· Conduct timely research and planning of a Season in order to:

o Procure desired productions,

o Present and discuss with Board and Finance Director.

o Announce and promote a season.

· Maintain the spirit of Seven Angels to be positive and welcoming.

Qualifications

Seven Angels Theatre does not require a specific number of years of experience or minimum educational credentials. Candidates should demonstrate a history of successful leadership and experience in theatre. Exceptional communication and collaborative skills are required, as is the desire to directly engage with Waterbury and the CT communities

Compensation and Benefits

SALARY: $60,000

HEALTH BENEFITS: ANTHEM BLUE CROSS

RETIREMENT CONTRIBUTION: 5% OF SALARY

3 WEEKS VACATION
