The Theater Project is conducting auditions for its summer production of AND IN THIS CORNER...CASSIUS CLAY by Idris Goodwin in Summit NJ.
Rehearsals commence on or about July 20, 2025 in Summit and Union NJ. Performances in Summit run Aug 14-24, 2025.

THE TEENS (seeking actors below 30 who can play teens to young adult)
· CASSIUS, a young man of great promise from Louisville (Also NARRATOR-CASSIUS – he has a bit of distance from the events we will see, he is perhaps more or a spirit)
· EDDIE, Cassius’s young socio-politically minded best friend (Also plays the YOUNG SOAPBOX GUY)
· RUDY, Cassius’s younger brother (by one year) (Also plays REPORTER #2)
Cassius, Eddie and Rudy age from early teens to early twenties over the course of the play.
THE ADULTS:
· JOE MARTIN, police officer and Cassius’s trainer
· CASH, AKA Cassius Clay Sr, Cassius’s father, a sign painter (Also plays FRED STONER [boxing trainer], ensemble player)
· ODESSA, Cassius’s mother, a homemaker (Also ensemble player)
THE ENSEMBLE: actors who can differentiate multiple characters with strong choices
· RINGSIDE ANNOUNCER (Also plays DINER WAITRESS, YOUNG WHITE BULLY, REPORTER #1, ensemble player)
· CORKY, a neighborhood bully (Also plays SUGAR RAY ROBINSON [flashy middle-weight champ and hero of Cassius], ensemble player)
· ZBIGNIEW PIETRZKOWSKI, Polish Olympic Boxer (Also plays DINER MANAGER, YOUNG WHITE BULLY, REPORTER #3, ensemble player)
