Michael Urie hosted the awards in a crisp white suit with a sky ‘n’ white awning-striped shirt and cobalt tie! But his slip-ons were the coolest and casual touch! You couldn’t take your eyes off his feet! Hey, Guys! Michael showed that men can play the accessories card with terrific flair too!
Robert Creighton was a bundled ball of energy in his tailored-to-a-tee graphite suit! As seemingly conservative as it might sound, it in fact accentuated all the personality and punch you’d need to play a wound-spring like James Cagney! He exuded all the athleticism that Cagney was known for, both as a mobster and a musical star…and Robert’s grooming was impeccable! A++++
Carmen Cusack floated down the red carpet like some magical princess in A MIDSUMMER NIGHT’S DREAM! Her floor length and flowing floral print caught the breeze and contoured itself to her body in just the right way! A plunging neckline, and a slit showing miles of leg!…and then when she passed! What a surprise! A bare back for DAYS! An A++++ for you too, Carmen!
Jane Krakowski was right on trend this season in her all-white tea-length nod to the 1930s. The dress had the silhouette of something you’d see worn in Maraczek’s Parfumerie, but the radiating geometric cut-outs gave you the feeling you were seeing 21st century lace. It was retro and modern at the same time and totally exciting!
Laura Osnes always seems to get it right at these Broadway openings and special events! Is that why she played Cinderella? She also featured a tea-length white lace dress, but hers was in the more traditional floral style of large peony cut-outs. Draping and flowing seductively, it was a perfect example of another very-in trend this season; lingerie fashion. Sexy! ...and what better accessory to have on your arm than handsome Nathan Johnson in a micro-plaid double-breasted jacket?
Pascale Armand looked terrific in her black and white button-down-the-front fit-and-flair lace ensemble. The black top with its easy-breezy short sleeves was belted at the waist and flared out in a black lace floral of irises and tulips over a white tea-length underskirt…and Pascale’s make-up and hair were beyond beautiful!
Montego Glover was as bright as a brand new pin! Lovely! Just lovely in her simple evening ensemble! A clingy black top setting off that million-dollar smile, and below were yards of hot-pink damask satin pleated into an ankle-length skirt. Petite as can be, she still shone like the brightest star!
Chita Rivera! Oh dear God!! A firecracker for all time! In what should be made her very own patented shade of red, she wowed the crowd in a jumpsuit and tux jacket that was sophisticated and sexy! Classy, yet comfortable! And what could be a better accessory than the Presidential Medal of Freedom worn on your lapel?.... For meritorious contribution to America’s culture!!! Ain’t it the truth! Ain’t it the truth!
