“It’s a really physical show, so we have someone work on us,” says Day. “I’ve got tiger balm, spray... every night we’re like “Which one are we going to put on your back tonight?‘’
“My dad painted that,” says Day of the little vignette next to her hip flask and official Tony nominee mug.
“I don’t even turn it over,” says Day of her Do Not Disturb sign. “I just keep it there all the time.”

“This is a great book that [playwright] Lynn [Nottage] and [director] Kate [Whoriskey] gave me,” she says.
“This big piece of material, I always bring one for every show because my grandmother was an interior design and I have a lot of samples from 1960-something,” Day explains.
“Right now I start getting ready and hopefully get hair and makeup done by 6:15 because we have fight call,” she says.
Show shoes on top. Party shoes on the bottom.
“My mom painted that,” says Day. “She started painting when she was like 70 just for fun.”
A comfy couch, sparkle lights, and warm red curtains make the room cozy.
Day is all smiles now, and ready to get onstage with the rest of the fierce Sweat ensemble.
