As part of an effort to create a three-theater complex, the Majestic Theatre was built in 1926-27 by the Chanin brothers, helping to solidify the block between 44th and 45th street as the heart of the theatre district.
Designed by Herbert J. Krapp, the Majestic Theatre opened on March 28, 1927 with Rufus LeMaire’s Affairs, a musical revue.

When it opened, the Majestic Theatre boasted the highest audience capacity on Broadway with 1655 seats. Still, it remains one of the largest theatres on the Great White Way.
Highlight past productions in the Majestic Theatre include Camelot starring Richard Burton, Julie Andrews, and Robert Goulet as well as Golden Boy starring Sammy Davis Jr., and The Act starring Liza Minelli.
