Careful folding of the Playbill pages add texture and dimension
Dara carefully color matched different advertisements and photos in Playbills to create a dark base color for Elphaba’s dress
Non-toxic craft glue sets the folded pieces like pleats on fabric!
And then the pleats are ready to be attached to a base fabric skirt
By rolling thin strips of paper, and then affix them with glue, beads were made for appliques.
Even her hat was made out of Playbills; Paper Millinery!
2022 was the first year they set out to replicate a costume; usually Sterling comes up with the designs herself, like this bubbly dress!
Every step is incredibly detailed; even her belt was Playbill branded!
In order to protect the fragile paper, most dresses have a base made out of either fabric or duct tape
Construction paper is used to add weight for supportive elements
Every circle is hand cut for visual variance
The bodice was a bonafide who’s who!
