The U.S. regional premiere of the Stephen Sondheim-John Weidman musical Road Show plays Stages Repertory Theatre in Houston, TX. "That Was a Year"
Welcome to Sunday at <i>Road Show</i>! Tom and Bridget are not morning people, so let this picture of a delicious brunch made by Tom suffice to say "they woke up."
Tom does all of the cooking. Bridget says it’s definitely for the best.
And hello, Houston! As Addie would say, "We're on our way."
10 and 2. Well, 11 and 1. Potato, potahtoe.
Look closely- it's Prince! That is, in fact, how they roll.
Bridget is serious about her coffee. AKA acting juice.
And here we are at lovely Stages Repertory Theatre. True to it’s name, there are two awesome spaces at Stages:
In the one theatre, Stages is presenting their 25th Anniversary Production of <i>Always… Patsy Cline</i>. Melodie Smith and Susan Koozin are fantastic, and Tom and Bridget are BIG Patsy fans!
A win either way, but we will be heading to the right. Well, stage right. Our right. Not house right. Whatever.
And there we all are!
Actor and box office darling Mark Ivy greets us on the way in.
Great smiles! Our fantastic stage manager Sara Hodgin Brossman and all-around technical whiz Brian Ealey warm the theatre entrance.
Laura Fine Hawkes’s set perfectly captures Addison and Wilson’s journey, what they acquired and built, and the tenuous state of the American Dream.
Our set spills its way into the audience. This is a replica of the sign advertising the Mizner development at Boca Raton.
Mariah A. Gill, a member of our extremely hard-working crew, by another portion of our set. And yes, Laura DID duplicate an actual Mizner fireplace…

Our fabulous music director, conductor and keyboardist is Steven Jones. Percussionist Jack Westmoreland looks on.

In the men’s dressing room, things are already getting spicy. We don’t know what Michael McClure is calling L. Jay out on, but Tom Prior seconds the motion.
Clearly, Hunter Frederick is staying out of it and suiting up in his mic.
Wonderful Jimmy Phillips, ready to go as Papa Mizner, chats it up.

Bridget puts on a bit of makeup. Part of the design of the show is very minimal makeup, so keep that in mind…
The ladies get ready. It looks like 1918 in here!
Cutie Sarah Myers, our feisty Boca Girl, straps on her characters
While Susan gives her wig a spritz, and prepares to make us all weep openly with her lovely performance. Yep, weep. It’s true.
Amanda Passanante’s characters range from foreboding to funny, and she’s fabulous at each and every one. A touch of gloss…
Amanda Parker is both a showgirl and stuffy Mary Monahan- a final adjustment before she tears it up.
Sassy Sara gives a 15 on Sexy Sunday! (That’s what we call it in these parts…)

Look who we found at places! Susan Koozin waits to go on as Louise in <i>Always, Patsy Cline</i> next door.
Michael and Amanda are ready to go.
So are Hunter and Amanda. (We call her Panda, so we don’t get anyone mixed up.)
Meanwhile on stage... "Waste"
Thanks to the unique set up of our space, we were able to catch some backstage antics without disturbing our audience. Umm, did we say antics? We meant really serious actor things. Like Cameron examining our program.
Tom Prior’s Prospector seems to have spent a little extra time in the saloon today.
Just kidding- he's as chipper as ever!

Post show, Tom takes a knee.
But apparently that's not enough.
Seriously. Not enough.
But we’re not done yet! The gang reconvenes on the set for a talk-back with our audience. They were awesome.
The talk back was facilitated by one of our fearless leaders, Associate Artistic Director Josh Morrison. (Unfortunately, he’s stuck in the shade a bit here…)
