It's time to start the day. I walk into the living room and "look" at my yoga mat...
... then decide on eating a bagel instead!
I check my email on my phone.
Then decide to take care of some non theatrical work before getting ready for my day
I take a peek at my favorite channel HGTV. I can't go a day without it.
I check the weather before picking what I'm going to wear..
On two-show days I take my backpack because I pack enough stuff to keep my attention for an entire day
I live in Jersey City and catch a commuter bus to the Path.
What?????!! The bus is totally empty! This never happens.
Oh well!
I need to stop at the bank for a second.
Yeah!! It's market day at the train station!
This is my favorite vendor. I call him "the pickle man". I love to buy his sweet pickles and pickled peppers.
On my way to 33rd street
A little light reading on my way to work. I think this is appropriate, don't you?
I've made it to 33rd street. New York City Transit here I come.
Taking the Orange line.
It's just a short block to the stage door... so convenient.
Whew, finally here. Hello Lyceum stage door!
I say hi to security as I enter.
First I have to sign in
I check the callboard for any new information that I should be aware of.

Home Sweet Home
I like to leave the my shoes along with the streets of New York outside my dressing room door.
I decorated my dressing room as if it was the room of a blues singer with rich reds and golds and photos of African American female inspirations.
This little chair is a godsend. You will see why later.
We'll get to these in a minute
I hear Allison Blackwell coming up the stairs heading to her dressing room.
Time to turn on the humidifier
It's one of those days outside so the neti pot is definitely necessary
I'm headed to the Stage Management office

I think I'll stop by the wardrobe department to say hi

Nikki Kimbrough arrives to work. She plays Etta James. You'll see a little more of her later
I've gotten into my robe and am now ready to begin my process.

I pass Kacee Clanton, who is our Alternate Janis Joplin, on my way to get my wig on
Wig time
I need to set a little quick change makeup in the booth
I stretch stage right at places. This is the view.
This is the other 1/2 of why my quick changes in the show are flawless.... Jennifer!!
Whew - Intermission.. Nikki and I backstage
Our amazing sound engineer Adam says "Hi"
The show is over and I'm hungry so I get Chinese food from the restaurant next door. I'm really excited to eat. Broadway shows take a lot of energy.
I told you you'd see this again later. This is the little chair from earlier.
Egg drop soup and Netflix on my fold out chair until I fall asleep...
Time to get up and start all over again.
Haven't we been through this before?

It's wig time again
I pass Alison Cusano's room as I am leaving the wig department.

There's Nina Simone (De'Adre Aziza) Her dressing room is next door to mine.
It's only intermission and I'm exhausted.
Time to make my last appearance as the Empress of Blues, Bessie Smith
Janis Joplin singing "Ball and Chain" The audience goes crazy for this number and there are always standing ovations. If you haven't seen it you really need to.
With the show done, it's time to support Broadway Cares.

I start my journey home.
But Mickey Ds calls to me on the way to the subway
Fish filet and hot fries and the New York subway
Let's go!
I take a cab home instead of the bus since it's normally late and I hate to wait after a long day.
Finally made it home!
