Play or Musical it doesn't matter, I'll always be a girl that bevels! Thanks Playbill.com.
My Damn Yankees family- Rayanne and Brad.
Jed and his mama.
Arena alums at Station 4—Brad Oscar and Diego Prieto with Nehal.
That's a wrap! Great two show day with my Mother Courage family! #blessed
That's what friends are for. Rayanne's Saturday lice check. She is method.
Jesse Terrill... he plays a saw in the show. That's right, a saw.
"Raise your hand if you’re sure!" Rayanne and Monalisa prepare for Act 2 with jumping jacks!
This lady is unstoppable and I love her #KathleenTurner
Marne…she's always there for all of my weird mishaps! Including me ripping my thumb nail off while wearing leather gloves. #howisthatpossible
Jacobi Howard prepares for Act 2!
Best caption wins a ticket to the show! Tweet me @meggillentine
"I've just heard, there's Catholics arriving!"
Love, love, love the costume shop at Arena Stage. Yes, that is a chainmail custom made jacket! Way to go Joe and Steven! #ilovemyjob
Halle Dollar Saxony Saturday! Hope you win John Walters!
My AEA cot. Monalisa look what you have to look forward to! The luxury of coming on stage 25 minutes into the play, I can get a little snooze.
This is how I warm up for the second show. Nathan, Jed, Monalisa and a little bit of Dan (Don) play for me while I find young Yvette. I like to relive what it must have felt like the first night at camp before everything went south. #thisisalsoinmycontra
Monalisa, our newest Equity member! We are so proud!
Our trusty music coordinator Nathan. He's the best!
I guess that's what happens to you after they throw ya on the fire! #mydinnerdate
Our very own Mother Courage cowboy. He's there for all of my exits offstage. #alsoinmycontract
Must reapply lips for Yvette’s BIG return
More dirt Rick, lots more dirt. P.S. I think you’re sexier than Michael Douglas.
Whatcha readin Jack Willis?
"Oh come on Lise, it's just jelly."
Nehal Joshi showing off his six pack. #hot
Transformation into Yvette is now complete. Thanks Vincent for my gorgeous hair.
Hmm…should have gone with yogurt and chia seeds this morning. oops
Rick Foucheux, our divine Chaplain and Tuba player. Book him for your next wedding. #greatsavings
Kathleen can always count on Erin and Nehal to be there at places. Nicholas? Not so much.
Our fabulous stage manager Kurt Hall. AKA Yvette's understudy.
Ladies and Gentlemen, introducing James Konicek, the sexiest voice in the building and that's saying something.
Warming up. I require Monalisa to play while I warm up, it's in my contract. #Diva
Dan (Don) and John Leslie showing off their fancy form.
Romancing the Stone #KathleenTurner
ERIN WEAVER walks into the room. My awesome roomy Erin. We both have babies, we both have husbands. Be warned, all we talk about are our babies and husbands.
Here we go! My last moment of peace until...
Smile, you're on Playbill.com you guys! This is gonna be fun.
My loyal dance partner, Dan (pronounced Don). By loyal I mean I can always count on him to love on me, throw me, use me, slap me and then leave me on stage. #PoorYvette
Kristen our trusty ASM. She keeps the wagon organized, God bless her. Without a doubt she is always right here at this spot when I first walk in the door. She also has to handle the dead chicken. #gross
Good Morning bunions, glad to see you're still there. Happy two show Saturday!

Makeup cleaned off. Final despicable selfie of the day. I really am sleeping here. I don’t know who took this. Creepy.
Eric makes fun of me for wearing a hat inside so I take it off to show him what I look like without it. Final Recap: orphaned-boy-child to Amish-girl to 60s-ingenue to drag-queen-photographer to rabid-squirrel to electric-socket-lady. No hormones. Promise
Finally home and I sit unwinding with a glass of wine (FOR MY HEART), a bowl of popcorn and my sweet, talented husband Eric Mendenhall. He’s in Atlanta shooting a pilot and we reflect on how thankful we are to both be working at the same time.
Valerie, Andrea and Lynda stand outside the theater. Breathing deeply after a long day and two shows and having done what they came to do.
Second show is over! When the hair piece comes off is when I go into my next transitional appearance: rabid squirrel.
He’s very receptive.
Malcolm takes notes very well.
Tom sort of acts like he can’t hear me while he’s tying his tie but I know everything I say gets to him deep down.
Well, Michael doesn’t take it too well, but he needs to hear it. I have lots of insight.
We’re so close to being done! It’s intermission at our second show of the day. I take this opportunity to give a few notes to my fellow actors. They all love this! Hanging on my every word.
That’s Jamie! He’s subbing in for Michael tonight who is shadowing Will. I hope no shenanigans go down. Wait. Yes I do.
Valerie and Tess think they can just stand there being all beautiful with their arms out and make me jealous of them. But I’m not. I don’t care. So what you’re all beautiful and talented and wonderful and stuff. I can deal. I can.
The women upstairs get ready for show number 2! Lynda says she’s not doing a show, she was just putting on her apron for the fun times of it and she doesn’t know what they’re talking about when Will calls places cuz she’s not doing another show.
Michael and Eugenius are joined by Sean-Maurice on the left as they do a little dance to get that energy up for show NUMERO DOS.
Oh finally! Our dear stage manager Will! I love Will because he warms up just like actors do! Here he is, preparing to call cues by warming up his ear and voice in the hall. This company is SO SERIOUS about art, y’all!
Eugenius takes a little nap while drinking coffee because he is just. that. good.
Lynda is BACK y’all.
Back to the theater. Tess is preparing again by reading cards from people who like her acting. I’m guessing they’re from Streep or Day-Lewis.
I receive a tip in text form saying Z Burger is giving away free milkshakes with an Arena ID. Look who I run into! Leigh who assisted us during tech! And Kurt who is stage managing Maurice Hines’ Tappin’ Thru Life in the theater next door!
Upside-down selfie on the way home. Isn’t the moonlight just terrible? #actor-y Also remembered the lashes are still on and I think everyone must believe I am either a very important photographer or a drag queen with a fancy camera. Either way, I like it
I throw on the shades and go out for a little DC adventure. Cuz I have this nice camera! And I’m in DC! And I’ll nap and do laundry when I’m dead! The shades keep people from mobbing me because I had three lines on “Drop Dead Diva” a few years ago.
I thought about trying to get some cheap publicity by starting a rumor and sending this one to the National Enquirer. Then I was like, “no Bethany. Don’t do that. You’re better than that. Definitely go with Us Weekly.”
Time for Christmas card pics for the future Prentices! Get your mailbox ready: “Happy Holidayz, dear playbill.com reader! We just got married in Switzerland and acquired this beautiful LED fire place almost immediately. Life is good! Racists suck!"
Malcolm also talks back!
Malcolm gives hugs by request!
Michael and Valerie talk back!
This is Linda Lombardi, our dramaturg. I hope to be friends with Linda for a long time. She is one smart lady.
First show over! And it’s talkback Wednesday! And the audience who has stayed lets me take their picture! Look how excited they are! They said “what’s up playbill.com readers?” I thought it was cool.
Oh dear, it’s intermission. But Tom refuses to break character and insists that Michael hear his confession. It’s a little awkward but at the same time very interesting. You’d be surprised at how many squirrels Mr. Key has hit with his car on purpose.
Here’s Valerie with her wig on now. She wears a robe sometimes too because us lady actors are VERY HIGH MAINTENANCE.
It’s Christmas card picture time for the Draytons! “Merry Christmas! We used to be a little bit racist but we didn’t know it but now we’re not anymore because our daughter made us see the light and changed us and the world forever. Love, The Draytons"
Tess prepares for acting by drinking coffee and pouting about the static cling in her pants. This world of acting is tough but she’s no wimp and ACTS THROUGH THAT STATIC CLING.
This is the foot and static clinged leg of the one and only Tess Malis Kincaid! This is the third time she’s played my mom and the fifth play we’ve done together and she is one of my all-time favorite actors in the world.
I get lucky and catch Andrea preparing too. She plays Mrs. Prentice. Andrea Frye is probably one of the most beautiful women I have ever seen in person and somehow even lovelier on stage.
Finished hairs and makeups (so far we have: 1. orphaned-boy-child 2. Amish girl 3. 60‘s ingenue. Who doesn’t believe in miracles??!) and I change Pandora once again to ye olde Bob Dylan station. I count on Bob to to really pull it all together.
I catch Malcolm in the hall on my way back. What luck! He’s doing his water bottle meditations. (Sometimes I call him “MalJam” or “Dubbs” and he squints his eyes at me a little bit but he doesn’t tell me not to.) I tell you what. These actors PREPARE.
I have a fall - a half wig, so before the wig goes on I look like an Amish Girl. Also, I wear my robe for this part because I like to remind people that I am very high maintenance. Vincent is extremely excellent at his job and also fun to talk to.
It’s 15 till curtain! Time to go get my hairs on! Well whadaya know Steven is visiting my hair technician, Vincent! Steven built all of my costumes and is a mad genius of making things fit on people in just the perfectest of ways.
Here’s Tom Key! He plays my dad. Here you see that he prepares for acting the way a dog might prepare for being a dog. It’s very inspiring. I definitely did NOT ask him to pose for this picture.
Here’s Mikey our ASM who made the beautiful Christmas miracle you will soon see in our green room! He’s collecting all the valuables. Sometimes I just ask him to put himself in my valuable bag.
This selfie is the most dangerous thing I will do all day (and that includes the stint I had this morning rescuing a kitten from a burning building)! My friend Jenn Lyon taught me all about lashes and all the secrets of looking like a drag queen offstage.
This is Valerie-who-brought-those-darn-donuts! She prepares for acting by making her eyes pop with makeup so you can really see all the acting she does with her eyes. Sometimes when we’re onstage she does it so hard that it actually hurts my feelings.
Eugene Lee prepares for acting by studying a scene he is not at all in. He’s that into acting. Using a pencil too! I am not onstage with Eugenius very much but I like to just listen to him on the monitors because of the goose bump inducing effect.
AN ACTOR PREPARES: This is Michael Russotto who plays the Monsignor. He prepares for acting by smelling flowers sent to him by someone who loves his acting. This reminds him that someone loves his acting and helps him act better.
My stage manager Will and our wardrobe supervisor, Emily Grace! More on Will later, but Emily Grace is a shining light of loveliness! She does all the hard work but is still even always nice! Also she is a very great Auburn fan. War Eagle!
Look who I run into first! It’s Aaron, our sound engineer. He’s carrying a bunch of brass instruments... Something must be changing in our show that I haven’t been informed of yet... I express my interest in the French Horn. Aaron will not hand it over.
I’m about to head to the theater! I take this mirror selfie because I want to document my physical transitions throughout the day for which I must do everything but take hormones. This is what I call my “orphaned-boy-child” look.

This is me. Still not talking. I read that selfies in bed are the most despicable kind of selfies in the world. I think this is probably true.
The cast of Five Guys Named Moe
Malcolm insisted he propose to me in front of the green-room-Christmas-extravaganza. This was definitely not my idea at all and I did not drag him in from getting his lunch. He really wanted to be involved in this! He insisted.
