Working Artists Theatre Project, led by Charlie Sutton (An American in Paris) and Jessica Dermody (who has worked as part of numerous Broadway companies, including The Producers, Movin’ Out, West Side Story), presents Matthew Greene’s Gregorian Off-Broadway. The new work officially opens August 22.

Performances began August 18 for an engagement scheduled to run through September 2 at the Walkerspace Theatre in downtown Manhattan.

Greene’s newest work follows one family’s journey through some of history’s most troubled periods and places—from Armenian Genocide, through the rise of the Nazis, across the killing fields of Cambodia and the continuing crisis in Africa.

The cast is made up of Aaron Lynn (The Glory of the World at BAM), Heather Lang (An American in Paris), Margaret Reed (Orson’s Shadow), Madeleine Barker (Grease) and Geri-Nikole Love (Jay & Ruby Get Religion).

The creative team is helmed by director Dermody, featuring movement by Charlie Sutton, set design by Jeff Hinchee, costume design by Tina McCartney and lighting design by Michael O’Connor.

Working Artists Theatre Project is a not-for-profit organization dedicated to providing platforms for working professionals in the entertainment industry to nurture skills outside their dominant disciplines. Co-artistic director Sutton, who has been a performer on Broadway since 2003, has used WATP to build his skills as a choreographer, while Dermody, who most recently worked as a wardrobe supervisor on the Tony-nominated The Crucible, is building her director’s portfolio.
