Woman of Color on Broadway is returning after a three-year hiatus with The Juneteenth Symphony June 16, performing at Open Jar Studios. WoCoB co-founders Victoria and Alexia Velazquez are directing and producing the event, which blends music and theatre in a celebration of the incredible work of people of color in the performing arts.
Alexia Velazquez is music directing the performance, which features vocals from Alexia, Isaiah Alston, and Sydney Williams, backed by an all-POC ensemble. The performance also features orchestrations by Alexia, Sen Raines, and Raiz Sajan.
Established in 2018, WoCoB works to uplift women of African, Latin, Asian, and Indigenous descent in the musical theatre. Past performances have been held at 54 Below, Minton's Playhouse, and The Great Hall at Cooper Union.
Tickets for The Juneteenth Symphony are available at WomanofColoronBroadway.org.
