A free concert event launching the Kickstarter campaign for the film My Cricket And Me will be held October 15 at the Triad in New York City.
Inspired by true events, My Cricket And Me is written and directed by former Willie Nelson roadie Gabriel Barreto and collaborator Eliot Routh. Nelson and Barreto star.
The film also features appearances by Drama Desk nominee Amy Irving (Yentl, Carrie), Dave Shalansky (Gilmore Girls, Divorce), Noel Carey (Brooklyn Sound), Rob Leo Roy (High Maintenance) and Lauren T. Mack (Cat Planet). Additional casting announcements will be made at the concert event. Donald Rosenfeld and Sovereign Films are executive producers.
The 4 PM concert, featuring exclusive screenings and live music by GOOLIS, will be hosted by Donald Rosenfeld and Andreas Roald. Entry is free, with a $15 suggested donation to the Kickstarter.
According to press notes, “The film follows Gabriel ‘Cricket’ Ramsey (Gabriel Barreto), a young documentarian who has decided to turn the camera on himself, revisiting his post-high school stint as a roadie for country music legend, Buck Bonham (Willie Nelson). But an interview with the wily musician goes awry when Gabriel is forced to reconsider the extent of his debauchery that fateful summer. Aided by his dubious-yet-faithful, wisecracking camera crew, Gabriel decides to reconcile with his past the only way he knows how—by retracing the outrageous warpath he carved while on tour.”
The Triad is located at 158 W. 72nd Street. For more information, visit MyCricketandMe.com and RSVP to [email protected].
