SIX creators Toby Marlow and Lucy Moss' new musical Why Am I So Single? will premiere on the West End, playing the Garrick Theatre beginning August 27. Moss will direct. The run is currently scheduled to continue through February 13, 2025.
With pop and musical-inspired songs, the show follows two perpetually single friends who can't figure out why they're so single or what to write their next musical about. The musical, featuring a book, music, and lyrics by Marlow and Moss, previously had a workshop at the Lilian Baylis Studio Theatre at Sadler's Wells in London last fall.
The cast will be led by Jo Foster, Leesa Tulley, and Noah Thomas. Foster returns from the 2023 workshop. Casting is by Harry Blumenau and Sarah-Jane Price of Harry Blumenau Casting.
"This is ultimately a musical about two friends, their desire for love, and how they deal with loneliness," say Marlow and Moss in a joint statement. "We hope people come away feeling super uplifted. And we hope they text someone the second they leave the theatre saying ‘omigosh just fyi i love you soooo much!!!!’"
The production will feature choreography by Ellen Kane; orchestrations, vocal arrangements, and music supervision by Joe Beighton; music production by Future Cut; set design by Moi Train; costume design by Max Johns; lighting design by Jai Morjaria; and sound design by Paul Gatehouse. Kenny Wax, George Stiles, and Ameena Hamid serve as producers.
