Jackie Sibblies Drury, best known for her Off-Broadway hit Fairview, debuted her latest work Marys Seacole at Lincoln Center Theater’s LCT3. The play began performances at the Claire Tow Theater February 9 and officially opened February 25 for a limited engagement run through March 24.
Directed by Obie winner Lileana Blain-Cruz (Pipeline), the full cast includes Quincy Tyler Bernstine, Gabby Beans, Marceline Hugot, Karen Kandel, Ismenia Mendes, and Lucy Taylor. Inspired by the real-life Jamaican-born nurse Mary Seacole, the Mary (Bernstine) in this work adventures across the globe and across time—from the Crimean War zone to a modern-day nursing home in this play examining what it means to be a caregiver.
