Young performers with a taste for rock 'n' roll stardom can audition for their chance in the spotlight as Broadway’s upcoming Tina: The Tina Turner Musical searches for its “Young Anna Mae Bullock” (a.k.a. Young Tina Turner).
The biomusical has launched an online open call, encouraging Black or mixed-race girls ages 8–13 and between 4’2” and 4’11” who are strong singers, actors, and dancers to audition. Those who audition must submit a self-tape featuring the song “Nutbush City Limits.” Assets and additional information are available here.
The show, featuring Turner’s myriad hits and a book by Katori Hall with Frank Ketelaar and Kees Prins, will begin performances October 12 at the Lunt-Fontanne Theatre, where it will officially open November 7. Phyllida Lloyd directs.
Tony nominee Adrienne Warren will take on the title role, reprising her Olivier Award–nominated performance from the show’s West End premiere. Additional casting will be announced later.
