According to producer M. Roger Lockie, single tickets are selling swiftly for Music Theatre of Southern California's production of Michael Bennett's A Chorus Line, to be unveiled Feb. 11-27, 2000 at the San Gabriel Civic Auditorium, followed by four performances at The Alex in Glendale (March 3-5).
Lockie encourages all those who wish to see the show to order tickets soon. "I don't want to see anyone disappointed," he said. The MTSC's artistic director Bill Shaw is helming Bennett's tribute to the dancers and ensemble actors of the American stage. Rikki Lugo is the choreographer.
James Kirkwood and Nicholas Dante wrote the book, Edward Kleban and Marvin Hamlisch the lyrics and music, respectively. A Chorus Line was launched as an Off Off Broadway workshop at Public Theatre in New York in 1974. It moved to Broadway's Shubert in 1975 where it ran until 1990, breaking all records.
MTSC's other Y2K shows include The Music Man in May and Ain't Misbehavin' in July. San Gabriel Civic is located at 320 S. Mission Dr. in San Gabriel. The Alex is at 216 N. Brand Blvd. in Glendale. For tickets and information call (626) 308-2868 or (800) 233-3123.
