Filmed on location at the Theatre Royal Haymarket, the documentary features Patrick Stewart and Ian McKellen — who recently reprised their performances in Waiting for Godot on Broadway — Simon Callow, Ronald Pickup, Joseph Cross and Anna Friel.

The program features rare, candid behind-the-scenes footage that follows the two productions from rehearsals to opening night and was broadcast on public television in October 2010.

Filmed over six months, "Theatreland," according to press notes, "goes behind the scenes of both productions to reveal what makes a West End theatre tick. "Theatreland" includes eight episodes, entitled "Bringing the House Down," "OK—Now Entertain Us," "Flushed with Success," "Is There a Spectre in the House?," "Waiting in the Wings," "Goodbye, Godot," "Blonde or Brunette" and "Blood, Sweat, and Magic" as well as bonus features such as a 12-page viewer's guide with a timeline of the Theatre Royal Haymarket; a look at the West End; profiles of the participants; an article on theatre ghosts; and fun facts about the productions.

The 2009 production of Samuel Beckett's Waiting for Godot at Theatre Royal Haymarket ran for 172 sold-out performances and was followed by the first staged adaptation of Truman Capote's Breakfast at Tiffany's.
